Zumba Dance Fitness Instructor (Extraordinaire!), brings the newest fitness dance craze, Zumba to our
area. For those who are unfamiliar with Zumba it is a fun dance-choreographed Latin aerobic exercise
brought to our native, Alberto "Beto" Perez in 1999. Since its introduction in the U.S., Zumba has
become one of the most popular dance and fitness activities, with fans raving about everything from its
fun party-like atmosphere to their amazing weight-loss.
their amazing weight-loss.
Glenda, who is teaching many Zumba classes in central Massachusetts in Worcester, Auburn, and
Oxford, fell in love with the hot Latin aerobic exercise right away, as Glenda has been dancing in one
form or another since she was five years old. Growing up in the Philippines, Glenda came to the US
several years ago, after being awarded a prestigious Wien International Scholarship to Brandeis
University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Glenda, who graduated as valedictorian of her high school class,
felt very honored to have received such a rare opportunity, since other Wien scholarship recipients have
included many distinguished people, such as the Prime Minister of Iceland, several United Nations
dignitaries and Nobel Laureats.
After graduating with a degree in Economics and Statistics, Glenda went to work as an Information and
Analytics Manager for a multi-billion dollar company in central Massachusetts. Today, Glenda still lives
in the area, and although she enjoys her day job, she also looks forward to her evenings, where she
can wash away all the stress of the day with Zumba!
In addition to all of this, Glenda still finds time to help make the community a better place through
volunteer work. She is the President of the Central MA Filipino-American Association, a Big Brother,
Big Sister volunteer and she also spends time working with causes to help underprivileged kids, cancer
research, senior citizens and health and fitness. She loves working with people of all ages and her
Zumba students love her.
"Glenda is the best! She makes working out a great time," says one of her students, named Justin.
Another student, J.T. adds, "When I walked into the class, I didn’t know what to expect... My face
went from frown to smile in less than a second... That’s how happy I feel with Zumba. It energizes
me, and I’m having so much fun. Oh, by the way, the instructor is hot and super crazy!"
For those people who want to try Zumba, Glenda will be offering a free Zumba class on April 7th in
Auburn. She will also be starting many new classes soon, and she will be launching a special summer
class for kids and teens. For more information about Glenda and the classes being offered, please visit
